make money bloggingWhat does Joel Comm mean when he says “We’re living in the good old days”. I thought the “good old days” are what people try to get back to, but can never quite get there. How “good” is it, really, when half the world is in debt up to their eyeballs and just one missed paycheck away from being kicked out into the street. Gas is at prices we never thought we would see, forcing most of us to cut back on driving or use grocery money to fill the gas tank. And every time we hear the news they tell us there is worse to come.

When you think about it, there are always those who seem to do well despite the conditions in the overall economy. No doubt about it, thousands or even millions of people are at the mercy of their employers or the government to keep them out of the poorhouse. On the other hand, there are those who are seemingly able to rake in the cash despite the gloom and doom on the news.

Maybe it is possible to stand apart from the crowd and imitate the “gurus” who have cracked the code and dialed in the system for generating serious money.

Like John Reese – though smart as they come, college couldn’t hold his interest. After flunking out, he labored in a video rental store while building his business. He owed over $100,000 in credit card debt at his lowest point, and his friends and relatives may have thought he would fall through the cracks like so many other dreamers. Once he put all the pieces together… he became the cash generating machine that we know today.

Keith Wellman’s story is familiar. Deep in debt and a family to support with his dead-end job, Keith was desperate. He even blasted Mike Filsaime publicly on Filsaime’s blog for taking advantage of his own desperation and hope. It wasn’t long before Wellman had to eat his words in a big way, as he is now a very successful entrepreneur with a lifestyle that others only dream about. Hey, if you can’t beat ‘em, why not join ‘em?

In his disarmingly illuminating style, Joel Comm profiles these individuals plus more than 30 others in his book Click Here to Order: Stories of the World’s Most Successful Internet Marketing Entrepreneurs.
With the same intensity that produced his New York Times Best Selling book The Adsense Code, Joel dissects the paths that dozens took to jump on the internet marketer’s bandwagon.

While Joel is no John Grisham (yet), his book reads like one of Grisham’s novels; Joel’s subject matter is just fascinating. You don’t want to miss getting your copy.

P.S. Joel Comm’s new book is the first to put over forty internet marketing entrepreneurs under the microscope. All the cool kids will be getting their own copy.

Pampered prize

I have to admit that, when I am not blogging, I do like a flutter. I have always liked watching the horses - and maybe trying to predict the winner, but recently I have found a new game of chance. When you have not got time to go there in person, you can play bingo online and have a lot of laughs at 888ladies. Their website, www.888ladies.com, has been offering some great bet-related prizes that really make the winners feel special. Imagine getting a free trip to Ladies’ Day at Ascot in a chauffeur driven limo with spending money thrown in. try it today and check all the freebies on offer.

Winning Website

If you enjoy a game of chance then you must be familiar with the Casino-on-Net website, at www.888.com. This award winning site is a popular place for sophisticated online gambling and with their latest addition, Extra Games, they have maintained their cutting edge and top position. Not only will you enjoy playing, you couls also be in line for serious winnings with their Progressive Jackpots. These are edging up to the $2m mark as I write. If you want a chance to win go across to the site and see what the fuss is about.

Keywords - how to find the right niche

As a blogger making my living from home, of course I want to get my sites to the front page of the search engine results for my chosen keywords. But I confess, that first step is the hardest part of internet marketing for me - how to find profitable keywords that will bring visitors to my site. I have tried using all the conventional tools, and I have spent a lot of money on expensive software that has just not worked for me. It does not matter how well I write my web pages and blog posts, how many great offers my readers can find, the most important step is the very first one - finding your niche. I seemed to be climbing a mountain constantly and never reaching the top.

Then, a week ago, I found out about a piece of software, Micro Niche Finder, that helps you make sure you are on the right summit. I have now used Micro Niche Finder for one of my sites, which was languishing on page three for most of its keywords. Once I used the Niche Finder, that same site reached No 1 in 48 hours.

This is one of the most versatile keyword software packages I have used, and I have hardly left my screen for days because I just keep finding lucrative new niches for my blogs! The holy grail of any webmaster is to find an area with a good quantity of searches and little competition. You can download the package immediately to start increasing your online income today. If you need to find out more, have a look at these step by step videos that show exactly how you can home in on red hot niches.

I have tried all the other packages available - Wordtracker, IBP Arelis, Google Adwords finder, Nichebot, SEO Elite, GoodKeywords - NONE of them is as effective or as easy to use as Micro Niche Finder.

New Paid to Blog Sites June 08

I signed up for Blogpayz paid to post site in February, completed one assignment offered by them - paying $1.70 - and waited for more.  Then things went very quiet: they paid the money on time, but my dashboard remained empty.  Later I was offered another paid blogging assignment for $2, but at that price it is not really worthwhile.  Today I heard that Blogpayz has more bloggers signed up and they are hoping to offer a minimum payout of $5 per post.  That will be welcome and I hope the service takes off.

Yesterday I did a quick search to see if any other promising new paid to blog sites had popped up nd i came across Blogvertiser. They are in pre-launch stages, you can sign up and wait for updates.  I have left my details for one blog and I look forward to getting some paid reviews from them.

Top five Paid to Post Sites for Blogs May 2008

At last I am updating my personal list of the top paid to post sites in my experience. These are real examples of the companies that pay me to post on my blogs - apart from this site - and how they operate. You can also read my permanent review of the paid to post sites as well, this post is the latest update. I have not updated this monthly list for a long time, many of the paid to post sites that once produced a good income stream are now doing nothing. The main drop in earnings came at PayPerPost. Their bloggers were targeted by Google in November and December, and most blogs’ page ranks dropped to 0 simply because they were writing paid posts for the company. It was easy for these blogs to be penalised as PPP requires a code to be embedded in the < Head > section of your web pages in order to register a blog. The search engine spiders picked this up easily. There were other, more arbitrary penalties applied and they are very unfair. It seems as if blogs were penalised just for mentioning the name of PPP. This site, for example, has never been registered there and I do not write piad blog reviews here. But the page rank dropped overnight from PR3 to PR0. Once the page ranks dropped for my sites that were writing paid blog posts, the opportunities at PPP dwindled and they were paying only $5 - not worthwhile in view of their rules on interim posts. I withdrew all my blogs from PayPerPost in January.

Here are my top sites for May 2008

1 PayU2Blog This is the consistent top paying site for me. It is well run and there is a blog where you can ask questions, or ask for more work! If you live in The US or Canada there are opportunities to test products before reviewing them. This is a good options, as I live in the UK I miss out on that one.

When you go toyur dashboard you have a list of blog opportunities for your sites. You will also see the date when they should be finished. When the post is written, cut and paste the URL and it is approved automatically. PayU2Blog pays out every fortnight, usually on Fridays. The payment covers all assignments completed up to the prevous weekend so you never wait more than three weeks for payment.

The vast majority of posts pay you $5 for a post of 60 words. If the post is longer or has more detailed requirements you may receive $7.50 or $10.

2. Bloggerwave

This is the surprise of recent months. I had some opportunities from Bloggerwave at the end of last year, then I found that four of my posts had been rejected and I had not been informed. I should have tracked the payments as well. Recently I have obtained more blog reviews from this site, paying $10 each, and they have been approved within five days of posting. They then pay out after a month. For the last two months Bloggerwave has been the second highest paying site for me.

3. Linkworth

This site has the most complicated set of paid blog advertising offers that I have ever seen, and it takes ages to get in and track the opportunities. Linkworth offers In-post ads, sidebar links and pay per click ads. The first thing you see when you log in are your earnings for the month - that bit is easy. I cannot get the Linkworth widget to work, so I have to post the ads in my blogs manually. Some ads are permanent but then the advertisers often cancel and the blogger needs to set a reminder to remove the link at the end of the month. I hope it will become eaiser to use Linkworth as I think it has good earning potential. It is my third highest paying site, and once the links are posted there is potential passive income.

4. Sponsored Reviews

I apply for a lot of teh opportunities on this site, but very few are accepted by the advertisers. Some of the advertisers actually reject the offer but most of them just leave it until it expires. When an offer is accepted, it usually pays very well and that is why Sponsored Reviews is my fourth highest paying site. My latest assignment was related to the niche that my blog serves and the advertiser wanted and unbiased review of their own site compared to competitors. A review like that is a pleasure to write: the sponsor gets a link and I write relevant fresh content for my site - I do not undertsand why Google thinks paid links are wrong.

5. Blogitive - LinkNerve

Blogitive has fallen away since its heyday a year ago. I logged in hundreds of times and found no opportunities on offer, and this is timeconsuming. Its partner, LinkNerve, send me opps by email and they are easy to complete. Payment is almost instaneous, which is a real plus. I hope this side of the site develops.

And that is it. If you wand to find more information on signing up for any of the paid to post sites, foolow the links to my main review. You should also find links to other related stories below this article.

How Not to Build a Website

The last few days have seen a lot of activity by Joel Comm, author of the highly acclaimed ‘Adsense Secrets’ eBook. This valuable guide shows you step-by-step how to make the maximum legitimate earnings from your website or blogs. The Fourth Edition of Adsense Secrets has just been published and I recommend it highly. I have been reviewing Joel’s products for more than two years and generally they are written to an extremely high standard. Today, however, I followed another link to the latest eBook which offered a free guide entitled ‘How to set up a profitable website fast’. Ever-curious, I signed up for a download in the hope that there might be a technique that was new to me.

What I read was a really disappointing, out-of-date book that included many ‘recommended products’ that would get your new website banned faster than you can say ‘profitable website’. The first link I noticed was to sofware called ‘BlogBurner’ that promised to create and post customised keyword-rich content to your blog dozens of times a day. When I followed the link all I found was one of those free blogging sites that hosts a blog for you on their domain and promises to pay you 1c for a page view.

On page 67 Joel points to a resource for web content free of copyright (because it was published before 1921) called ‘the Lost Files’. Follow the link and you will see this message:

The Lost Files Has Closed Its Doors!
All Billing Has Been Discontinued.

Never mind, let’s try something else: nest, a content aggregator site called completrss.com. Call that up and you will find a parked page because someone forgot to renew the domain registration. I know this, because one of my domains lasped last year and the same page appeared.

There is a very long section on RSS feeds that I found quite confusing, and I use RSS myself. But here again I noticed a resource that wa snew to me - feedster. Search for Feedster and you will find the service has been moribund for well over one year.

Another software recommendation that is mentioned twice in the book is called Traffic Equalizer. This is one of teh most dangerous ideas in this ebook: Traffic Equalizer takes or `scrapes` content from an outside source such for publication on your site as so-called fresh web content. There are numerous stories of sites being banned after employing this software and rightly so. I have been the victim of content scraping and I condemn this misuse of other people’s intellectual property.

Chapter 25 concentrates on cloaking techniques and redirects: if you wnat your site to remain indexed in Google, do not use either of these techniques - and do not use doorway pages, which are also mentioned earlier in the book. I could go on, but I have to go and do something productive.

Anyway, my conclusion - buy Adsense Secrets 4 and you will do very well. Ignore ‘Build a Proditable Website Fast’ if you wnat to stay in business.

Why I left Blogger

Here is just the latest reason why I prefer Wordpress. I have two blogs that have not been possible to migrate to Wordpress. Today I tried to write a new post and this is the response I got when I clicked the bookmark link.

What the h*** is that about?

I would be very upset if my search for help with Atlantic City hair loss treatment delivered the same results. Hair loss is a sensitive subject and its sufferers will be easily put off in case of any queries like that.

Adsense Wordpress Plugin recommended

I was recently looking for a plugin that would show Adsense ads in Wordpress blog posts, I wanted something that would enable me to stop the Adsense ads showing on a post if necessary. The reason for this is that if the post is sponsored by an advertiser they do not want to see ads from another network in their paid blog post. I am now using an excellent free plugin called Adsense injection. This plugin places the Adsense ad units seamlessly in the middle of the blog post or page, and it displays them differently every time the page is reloaded. You can also use this plugin with Yahoo Publisher Network.

There are plenty plugins that claim to make your Adsense ad units display better, and even increase the clickthrough rate. Some of them actually breach Google’s terms of service and that is not a good idea. Some of the ‘Adsense Plugins’ and Widgets simply failed to work when I uploaded them to my blogs. Eventually I found a very simple and effective plugin that will display AdSense Ads on a Wordpress Blog, the download instructions are simple and you can soon get ads in your Wordpress blog posts using this plugin.

There are many websites that link to animal grooming services, as I have discovered since becoming a dog owner. Make sure the company that you use are sensitive to each pet’s varied needs and temperament.
